Narrowing your topic

First, choose a topic you are interested in, and would like to know more about. Choose one that would interest your audience, if you like. Be sure that you can find information about your choice (ask your librarian about this).

From the Writing Workshop at Jessamine County Public Schools, we have a General-to-Specific Triangle which helps you narrow your topic. If you choose something way too big, it will be impossible for you to get finished. Here are a couple of examples:
